The Yamaha XT660Z Ténéré is a rugged, old-school adventure bike that was sold from 2008 to 2016, and it's become something of a cult favourite among riders who want a simple, reliable motorcycle for touring, commuting and genuine light-to-medium off-road riding. It uses a 660 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing about 48 bhp and 58 Nm, with a five-speed gearbox. The engine isn't particularly sophisticated or exciting, but that's part of the appeal: it's mechanically straightforward, torquey and well proven. There's no complicated electronic rider-aid package to worry about, and the bike has a reputation for being extremely durable when properly maintained.
